The cemetery (camp butler) on left. My uncle Luke's grave at Camp Butler (right). My uncle served in Iraq as a specialist/chemical weapons specialist. He was killed by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) that was detonated by terrorists. He was sent on a mission with his division to go to Baghdad, Iraq. I was his only nephew at the time and when he was killed I had very little insight on what was happening (because I was in kindergarten). He was really cool though, he inspired me to join the armed forces as he was inspired by his grandfather who served in the navy (survivor of thePearl Harbor Attacks, fought in World War II and Vietnam War, he later retired from service.

Few years back with my best shipmate Marley (station dog)  and a recipient of the Coast Guard  Medal of Commendation for ice rescue. We are now both Veteran's and both come from a line of service men like my father was, so when they ask how long did I server I say.. "All me bloomin’ life. Me father was King Neptune, me mother a mermaid. I was born on the crest of a wave and rocked in the cradle of the deep. Me eyes is stars, me teeth is spars. Me hair is hemp and seaweed. And when I’s spits, I’s spits tar. I’s tough, I am, I is, I are."

Stay strong Veteran Brothers

I saw a comment that said " I may not have a PHD but I have a DD-214".

As it is now 2016 I'm 48 now.

In 1986 I joined the Army more out of desperation to save myself. More so to save my  self discipline. As I had no direction in life.

I saw the world through mine own eyes. I saw for myself what the world really was.

and that kickstarted me to greater things.

thanks to all my brothers, young & old, safe at home & in the field, and those who have fallen.

My grandfather fought in WWII in the Air Force as a bomber pilot. He got shot down behind German lines, and was able to parachute out just before the plane crashed into its fiery death. He managed to be undetected until he silently eliminated a German soldier, and stole his uniform. For two years he was pretending to be a German soldier, and breaking them from the inside. Once the war was over he was respected as an unknown hero once he got back to America, and he thought it was a miracle he was alive.

Enlisted in the Air Force a couple years after high school to jump start things. While I got out after 5 and didn't go career, serving was one of the things I'm most proud of.
