(I believe there were like 5 total) Most officers that were black did not serve as flag officers, or in high command. They served on the field, either as soldiers, sailors, or pilots. Contrast issues. Sorry if I sound slightly racist here, but the portrait background is a dark beige. It just looks better with light skin color. And finally, models.
