Not sure what you are referring to as "rockets?" During WWII, and especially in the pacific theater there most certainly were dive Bombers and Torpedo plane squadrons. Today's high speed torpedo rockets didn't exist, but propeller driven ones did. Many many ships were sunk by Torpedos and crippled by Dive bombers during WWII...
